Here are a few photos from the studio and my sketchbook.
I hope they will inform the first-time models as to the method and set- up for your first model session. The studio blinds will be pulled to separate the studio from the rest of the house for privacy if need should arise. Most sessions are 3-5 hours or 8 hours if I choose to paint. Usually on the first session I will take dozens of photographs, sketch and explore poses with the model. This gives me a chance to learn about the model's personality and will direct the rest of the day.
I use a variety of props and backdrops. When the model and I have selected a pose, I will mark the position with tape. I will have the models hold a pose for 15 to 20 minutes while I paint or draw followed by a break for the model. I like for the model to remain nude even on breaks and most of the day so I can observe body movements and muscles in motion.
